Buckner Summer Interns travel all over the world and dedicate a month of their summer to minister to orphan children, caregivers, in-country staff, and short-term mission trip groups.
Interns are expected to provide leadership in Bible exploration, recreational games, crafts, scripture memory, and other areas. The most important job our interns have is to share Jesus’ love and build relationships with the children they visit. Throughout the course of the summer, interns have the opportunity to do a little bit of everything from leading Bible lessons to orphanage improvement projects.
It’s hard to describe the typical day of an intern! Our interns’ experiences have varied with each summer and with each country we serve in. Most of the ministry is held within orphanages. Intern accommodations include: Buckner housing, Christian shelters, or actual orphanages. Interns travel to and from the orphanage/ministry locations each day. Most days include early mornings and late nights. There is also time scheduled for reflection and relaxation. Interns also enjoy culture experiences while overseas.
