Buckner Summer Interns are college-age students or young adults who have a heart for Christian ministry to orphan children. They are committed to being servants for the summer to orphans and at-risk children, caregivers, in-country staff, and short-term mission groups. All interns must be at least 18 years of age by submission date of application and must have completed one year of college or have one year of full-time work experience.

The key to a successful internship is flexibility and cultural sensitivity.

Each Intern team includes a Senior Intern. Senior Interns are usually a graduate student, teacher with a free summer, seminary student, or someone with a few years of work experience, who serves as the “team leader” for their intern group. They are responsible for the money, accounting, paying bills, etc. for the intern team during their month of service. Because of these additional responsibilities, Buckner provides a fee deduction for those selected as Senior Interns.

What kind of preparation does Buckner provide for Interns?
Buckner Missions will communicate expectations and trip details during the months prior to the internships. We will also provide an orientation meeting in Dallas prior to flying to your destination country. Once the intern team has arrived in country, they will have an orientation with Buckner’s international staff.

How much does it cost?
The internship cost consists of a Land Cost plus Airfare cost. Buckner handles all the details of your overseas travel.

Land costs include: all lodging, meals, cultural events, translators, in-country transportation, travel insurance, visas, bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth, and all orientation expenses (in Dallas prior to overseas departure).

Domestic and International Airfare is arranged by Buckner for each intern based on their hometown departure city to Dallas, TX for orientation and then on to the destination country. Costs for airfare are confirmed at the time tickets are purchased.

Most interns raise support and have found this to be another blessing of the internship as they experience God’s provision through the Body of Christ. Helpful tips and information on raising support will be given after the selection of interns is announced.
